Meeting between the Opra Roma movement of Serbia and the Secretary of State, Ivan Bošnjak
On Tuesday, 30.06. A video meeting was held with Dr. Ivan Bosnjak, State Secretary at the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, after the initiative of the Opre Roma Movement Serbia (ORS) sent to the Government of the Republic of Serbia, due to recent heavy rains that hit our country. ORS pointed out the current situation and suggested that together with the Roma community take responsibility to engage in activities to overcome emergencies, which were introduced in a number of municipalities and cities due to floods because they endangered citizens and affected a significant number of Roma. State Secretary Bošnjak emphasized that timely and quality exchange of information and coordination towards the level of government, local and district emergency headquarters, which will then be channeled to the republic headquarters and back, is key in overcoming such and similar challenges. It was concluded that the support offered by the ORS to public authorities in Serbia will be immediately directed to the most vulnerable, with the mediation of the Ministry wherever necessary. In addition, it was agreed that the ORS will cooperate with the competent institutions by proposing concrete measures for the urgent recovery of Roma families from the floods.
